Every student matriculated at a Swiss university can in principle participate for free and without advance booking in the sports and sports activities programme of University Sports.
Furthermore, according to the current admission regulations (PDF), other people can obtain a University Sports pass and enjoy the whole programme.
The University Sports pass can be applied for online, over the telephone or in person at the University Sports registry, Bremgartenstrasse 145, 3012 Bern, Tel. +41 (0)31 631 47 67.
The University Sports cards are valid for a period of 12 months from the date of the request and do not (!) include any course or competition fees, which are to be paid additionally.
It is not possible to return the University Sports card and to claim reimbursement of the annual fee in the case of accident, illness, holiday or other absences.
The pass is not automatically renewed upon expiration of its period of validity.
All students matriculated and having a University Student card as well as any holder of a University Sports pass can take part in the Bernese university championship. A registration is required.
Entry fee:
Individual sports: CHF 05.00 for one discipline, CHF 06.00 for two disciplines
Team sports: CHF 50.00 (without the deposit of CHF 30.00) per team
Ranking:
The title of Bernese University Champion is reserved for matriculated students of the University of Bern and will be granted only for competitions between more than a minimum of five participants.

All matriculated students, as well as students who completed or interrupted their studies less than two years ago and who have not yet reached their 28th birthday (by birth year, not the birth date) can take part in the Swiss University Championship. Some additional selection criteria may be required (e.g. a minimum ranking).

Students interested in participating in national and international competitions are invited to contact the person responsible for the sport in question or the University Sports registry.
All Swiss citizens that are regularly matriculated at a university in Switzerland or abroad, as well as former students who completed or interrupted their studies less than one year ago and who have not yet reached their 28th birthday (by birth year, not birth date) may take part in student European championships, student world championships and university Olympic games (Universiades). Clear additional selection criteria apply in the individual sports.
